Progression Opportunities

Image
Hello, my names Bethany Raine and i'll be writing about my musical theatre journey firstly i'll talk about opportunities and goals for me as a musical theatre performer. The main opportunities for me is to become a musical theatre performer is that I could work on West End shows or even Broadway or going to HND/ university level degree to expand my learning in musical theatre, but there's many different ways that you can find different kind of opportunities for example you could hold workshops or work at a dance convention for example "Can You Dance?" or "move it", to help my goals in the future I would go to dance city in Newcastle for multiple Disneyland parade auditions, for example I would involve myself in going to musical theatre workshops all over the country and having to build up enough stamina for the parades, but to also have to cope being in big costumes and having to adapt myself to any temperature when the parade is in different seasons. Yerma

As one of my performances for this year I performed "Yerma" by Simon Stone it shows a couple going through struggles of having children while performed glass box to show there empty house but also can show a festival and a wedding reception. I got given a task by making a performance with my peers about what I thought Yerma was about, as a result I and my peers did a dance about relationship abuse and also acting where one person would speak a monologue but as different people and the others would dance as the partner but around the person saying there lines. The rehearsal process was difficult at times because of some people being off and because of the routine being as hard as the subject matter of relationship abuse we had to research how it affects people mentally and how other people showed it through the expression of dance.  What went well   i felt we stayed in character throughout the performance  fantastic use of facial expressions  aspects of acting and dancing was

Physical theatre

As one of my recently choreographed challenged performances about "Climate Change", this was done as a ensemble. This piece was inspiring and very in the moment due to everyone talking and trying to change way of life for the environment we live in. It is a very serious and emotional piece to get the point across, that we must act now and save the planet. As we were told what physical theatre was all about, we learnt about many practitioners for example frantic assembly and verbatim.  What went well worked well as a group everyone was in sync on rosas danse rosas we all portrayed emotional very well to get the message across good use of props  strong dance performance  we performed the high intensity part of the performance very well great at giving ideas forward and putting them to practice  What didn't go so well we would debate constantly and got in the way of rehearsals  never came in for extra practice , i felt it could have been performed better  Reflection On ref

Waiting for Godot

In December i performed the comical "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett, in this play it's about two clowns Vladimir and Estragon who are waiting for a person called Godot who doesn't arrive. In this performance we had to work in pairs but before all of that i got taught the tree different types tragic, pathetic and simple. As me and my partner got our script we sectioned the script into three to help us with the learning process and to see where the slapstick routine would feel comfortable and tidy. what went well : understood the character Estragon I felt more confident in my acting compared to Yerma at the beginning of the year with it being the hardest and longest script i picked it up quicker and did further research on my characters background I understood what type of comedy but also when and where is was and wasn't funny sometimes me and my partner forgot our lines so when we did, we made up a backup in case it was to happen on stage I enjoyed the scri
