May Milestone

The musical As the musicals is in two weeks i have took my role as choreographer more seriously because we needed more ensemble numbers in the musical. So the three routines where for broken wing, imagine place and monsters all created by my peers who are also in the musical. As for the three routines some are a lot different styles of dance and have a different story for each. For some rehearsals we workshopped ideas and looked at physical theatre companies and different musical theatre productions including the prom. It was a challenge for me to do different styles because i focus most on contemporary style dance but it also improves my dance styles more and i can expand more in the future. what i improved on: I focus more on everyone else and who needs help in the different areas of the routines. I lead warm ups with the other choreographers. I confidently taught my peers choreography.  Charity showcase To support the Ukraine war i took part in a showcase to raise money for them,

Performance day for speakeasy  As in my march milestone last month i mentioned about doing rehearsals for the speakeasy performance at the Firestation. I had a tech rehearsal on the Thursday and Robbie who was the main director for the show had us rehearse in the space then placed us where it was best then we worked through dance to dance so we know when do go through to start the dance. Then on the Friday we had to be there by six to have a talk and run through it once then we performed at 7:30. What went well during the performance: I had use good character while doing the different emotions of both the routines. I had remembered both routines including the partner parts and characterisation within the scene. what did i need to improve on in the performance: I needed to keep looking up at times during the routine. I needed to keep up the energy through out the performance.   Musical rehearsals started In the beginning of April i had started to create ensemble routines for the musical

Speakeasy  For march i had the privilege to work with southpaw dance company in the performance "speakeasy" which was based in the 1920's. The scenes i was in was when the singer with her backing people met the main antagonist for the first time which was slow and more waltz pace where as the second routine was more fast paced and more chaotic.  The rehearsal process went as followed: we had a talk about what the show was based on then we started to learn the style "swing" which was common in the 20's to dance with or without partners. we got taught the routine by Robbie and Alicia and recorded it both the solo part and the partner work and then we watched them back and workshopped ideas to try and improve the performance to make it more ready for the 8th April. The week after we did a dress rehearsal and did the routine to make sure that the costumes were ok for the performance, then we went to the fire station the day before the performance to record mat
